Arch-Villians

I can’t remember if we fought two or three Arch-Villians last night.  It’s hard to remember because we fought each one a dozen or so times.  With a full, well balanced, group of 8 we couldn’t even put a dent in the first one.  Thirty minutes and a lot of debt later he was still at full health.  We normally play on Invulnerable, so we set the mission to Heroic and tried again.  Still no good.  We had to resort to musical toons with a web of side kicking.  Eventually we managed to find a group that eventually managed to kill him.  Not really a realistic solution for most groups and since I had to log my 33 instead of focusing on getting my 49.8 to 50, I wasn’t too happy about it.

Next Arch-Villian was Inferno.  We only has a group of 6 this time, but it was still on Herioc and the mission was old, so the Arch-Villian was only level 48.  Once again, after over 30 minutes of beating on him, he wasn’t even sweating.  We just had to give this one up while my toon was a RCH (red cunt hair) from leveling.

I guess the only way to make progress now is to just farm existing missions?  I sent a petition about it and the response was:

“With the release of Issue 7, Arch Villains/Heroes and Giant Monsters have been adjusted and now ignore threat level damage multipliers for different Archetypes. They have also had their health and regeneration rates increased, as well as the damage they deal.”

Which is kind of a “no shit”.  We were already well aware of the changes, point of the petition was to point out they merely went to the other extreme.  I can see that they didn’t want people to be able to solo an AV, sure.  But this is balancing with a sledge hammer.  And frankly, I don’t see the harm in even a two or three man group taking one out.  One of the best things about City of Heroes is that it is actually possible to get to 50 with just a buddy.  Not required a perfect full group at all times like other MMOs.

If that’s the direction the game is going to go it will make me very sad.  Once again the games have to appeal to the “hardcore” crowd.  The game isn’t hard enough for those who dedicate 40+ hours a week to it, so the casual players now must suffer.  I would really rather not have to quit CoH or MMOs in general, so I sure hope they realize this is a mistake.

Heyo…im a lvl 38 blade regen stalker….I didnt know they uber pimped the avs with issue seven. I allmost never team unless its with my older brothers and there friends so last weekend I was soloing alot. I ended up fighting probably a dozen avs. No joke from longbow balista to inferno and auroaborialis….. i managed to solo each one. LOL….. really I died quite a bit and had MoG running constantly, but I did it. The trick was to get as many medium purps as i could and keep three pooped at all times. I had a few nukes from warburg that i had been saving for just such an occasion. So as soon as Inferno summoned his little buddies I nuked the hell out of all of em and his pets were down. It helped to have MoG and Demonic Aura….and all the purps i could hold….i dont know if i could have done it without my demi-god powers. So what I would suggest is go to warburg…get everyone you team with to get nukes….the acctual nuke and the bio that buffs you and your team mates….have each person get both….then get all the purps you can…. if that doesnt work then just cancel your account cause 8 nukes to the dome should kill just about anything.

    Hidden Shadow…. U.S. Server Gaurdian (lvl 38.7 Blade/Regen Stalker)
    Death Wolf….. U.S. Server Gaurduan (lvl 39.7 Energy/Energy Blaster)

    Global Handle (Thief.)

Luckily there was a big enough back-lash from the pissed off community that they drastically toned down the AVs. Still stronger then they were in I6, but only by a small margin. Before this fix nobody was even able to do the Hami raids. But now we are taking out AVs just fine.
